DJ DKO, aka Darren Kramer, is an innovative Electric Trombone DJ, Ableton Certified Trainer, and XO Professional Brass Artist,
creating live remixes of originals and covers via live looping, live audio effects, Push beat slicing, virtual synths,
vocoder and the iPad Lemur app.
Kramer has been a professional musician for over 30 years,
working as a full-time freelance trombonist, pianist, composer, producer and educator around the world.
Kramer has used Live for over a decade, as both performance and composition tool, to enhance his unique approach to combining acoustic instruments with electronic music – a fusion of jazz and beats using advanced harmony and improvisation. His cutting-edge live performance also includes spectacular visuals beat-synced to Live using M4L, and the latest VJ software to combine video loops, live camera feeds and Kramer’s world-class photography for a truly stunning interactive multimedia experience.
After graduating from the University of Miami, Kramer moved to NYC and toured with acts such as pop/rock band Matchbox Twenty and the legendary jazz Broadway show, Duke Ellington’s Sophisticated Ladies. He has appeared on numerous TV shows, performed with dozens of popular artists, and has recorded on his own record label with Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Michael Brecker.
DKO The Darren Kramer Organization is a music company founded in 1998 which now prominently features DJ DKO – Kramer's lifelong ambition to encompass all of his skills and passions into one discipline, while pushing the boundaries of the trombone stereotype and that of the traditional DJ.
Darren is an Ableton Certified Trainer and is the organizer of the Denver Ableton User Group. His extensive and varied talents as a performer, composer, music technology expert and entrepreneur make him a rare talent, but his love for music and passion for teaching are what make Darren a valuable educator and certified trainer. He is available for group and one-on-one lessons in person, over Skype from anywhere in the world, and through video tutorials accessible anytime via his new online subscription streaming service, DKOLessons.com.
